About Addie’s Art Teaching Philosophy
Hello My Fellow Artists-
The art classroom is a special place where you can come to learn, grow and find your artistic voice. When we gather together for art classes, we explore creative ways to transform our lives. Wherever you are on your art journey, I hope that you find inspiration and hope during our time together. Over the years creating artwork has helped me to understand what is important in life and connect with others on a deeper level. I hope that the process of creating art is just as healing for you.
In our class time together we get to know each other well as we create our pieces and discuss inspiring artists. I often incorporate art therapy and expressive art exercises into our curriculum to help you find new creative ways to express yourself. In my classes students are encouraged to develop their own style with daily warm-ups and challenges, not just copy the instructor. When we learn new skills, it is important to be nurturing and supportive of each other. If you are looking for a welcoming art community where experimental self-reflection is encouraged this is the place for you!
I believe that everyone is creative. Whether you throw your energy into painting, sculpting, cooking, gardening, sports or decorating you are a creative force. I don’t believe “the myth of genius” that makes people believe that art is only for the select few. Everyone creates in a variety of ways every day. Art is for everyone. Art is for you. May you be empowered by the call to action. May you find your voice.
